WELCOME
Dear colleagues,
It was a pleasure for us and for the organizing committee to have received you in Uruguay.
We are pleased of having achieved our main goals. In particular, a good atmosphere has been established where the researchers have had the opportunity to share their current works, to exchange knowledge, to establish collaborations and to encourage young people to develop further research on topics related with metal ions in biological or medical systems. We thank all of you for helping us to accomplish this.
We hope that your visit in our country has been pleasant and fruitful and that your expectations have been fulfilled.
We wish that the tradition of this symposium continues. For this reason we would like to announce that the 13th International Symposium on Metal Ions in Biology and Medicine will be held in Jackson State University, Jackson, Mississippi, and will be chaired by Dr.Paul Tchounwou.
Best regards
Dr. Dinorah Gambino
Dr. María H. Torre
Chairwomen of 12th International Symposium on Metal Ions in Biology and Medicine
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the XII Symposium on Metal Ions in Biology and Medicine which will be held in Uruguay, in 2013.
Following the tradition of the successful previous symposium series, in the XII edition we would like to promote a good atmosphere where the researchers from all over the world will have the opportunity to share their work, exchange knowledge, strengthen productive collaborations and discuss all issues related to the role of metal ions in biology and medicine.
The Scientific Program will be composed of plenary lectures, short course oral and poster presentations covering a diverse and multidisciplinary research agenda with topics related to metals and semimetals in biology and medicine.
For the first time, the symposium will be held in South America, one of the most attractive and surprising regions of the world. Uruguay is home to numerous scenic shores, fishing areas, hot springs, horse and cattle ranches open for visitors, small towns rich in colonial and early national architectural heritage, and an extensive metropolitan area. Its Atlantic coast remains a relatively untapped and unspoiled tourist resource.
We will be looking forward to welcoming you in Uruguay next 2013. Sincerely,
Dr. Dinorah Gambino
Dr. María H. Torre
